Lexington-Fayette County Health Department to Spray for Mosquitoes Early Thursday Morning, July 23, in ZIP code 40505
Lexington, KY – July 21, 2026

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department (LFCHD) will spray for mosquitoes early Thursday morning, July 23. A mosquito trap deployed by LFCHD at Johnsdale Drive recently caught a large number of mosquitoes, prompting the spraying.

Spraying will occur between 3:00am and 6:00am and will cover the 40505 zip code area around Castlewood Park, Johnson Heights Park and parts of the Eastland Parkway and Meadows/Loudon communities.

For spraying to take place, the wind speed must be less than 10 mph, the temperature must be above 55 degrees Fahrenheit and there can be no rain or dense fog. The mosquito spray used by the health department only affects adult mosquitoes that are flying at the time of spraying.
