UPDATE:  LFCHD Postponed Thursday Mosquito Spraying Due to Rain

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department (LFCHD) has been conducting additional mosquito spraying this week in response to a sharp increase in resident complaints.

Spraying took place as scheduled on:

  • Tuesday, September 8 — portions of ZIP codes 40511, 40508, and 40505, including the Masterson, Griffin Gate, Meadowthorpe, Downtown, Meadows/Loudon, and Eastland neighborhoods.
  • Wednesday, September 9 — portions of ZIP code 40509, including the Hamburg, Woodhill, Andover, and Greenbrier neighborhoods.

Due to rain, spraying planned for Thursday, September 10 in ZIP codes 40502, 40503, 40515, and 40517 was postponed. That spraying is now rescheduled for Tuesday, September 15, between 3–6 a.m.

Tuesday, September 15 Spraying – ZIP codes 40502, 40503, 40515, and 40517 (Picadome, Hill & Dale, Wellington, Beaumont, Lansdowne, Southeastern Hills, and Lakewood neighborhoods)

As with all mosquito spraying operations, treatment will occur only if wind speed is less than 10 mph, the temperature is greater than 55 degrees F, and there is no rain or dense fog. The spray used by the health department affects only adult mosquitoes that are in the air at the time of spraying.
